The Europa League Draw: Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos it is. The things I know about them can be listed in two lines of text: they play in green; they're the Athens team that never wins anything; I wouldn't be able to name one single player they have, so please don't ask me to.

With reservations that my above analysis of them isn't the most nuanced that can be put together, it still feels like a very good draw for Roma. Athens in February is a lot more inviting than for example Russia and Kazan is, and on paper Panathinaikos sounds more manageable than Villarreal, both teams that were avoided. The winner of this round plays the winner of Standard Liege-Salzburg, which is also a favorable draw even if we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves so the road to the quarter finals has been mapped out and it's a scenic route.
